Who We Serve
The Chisago Lakes Education Center (CLEC) is hosted by the St. Croix River Education District (SCRED) in partnership with the Chisago Lakes School District. CLEC houses two federal setting IV programs, serving the districts of Rush City, North Branch and Chisago Lakes. All of the students we serve receive special education services for the entirety of their school day in a setting separate from the general education building. Our students can range from grade K through age 21.
Students in the Pathway to Change program typically have primary disability categories of Emotional/Behavior Disorder or Autism Spectrum Disorder. Students are placed in the PTC program by IEP team decision from their resident school due to demonstrating significant needs in the areas of social skills, behavior management, and emotional regulation. Our ultimate goal for our students is for them to build the skills necessary to help them successfully transition back to a mainstream school setting.
Students in the SOAR (Skill-building Opportunities for Academic Resiliency) program typically have primary disability categories of Autism Spectrum Disorder or Developmental Cognitive Delay. Students are placed in the SOAR program by IEP team decision from their resident school due to demonstrating significant needs in the areas of communication, behavior management, and self-regulation. Our goal for our students is to help them build the skills to maximize their independence and, if appropriate, transition back to a mainstream school setting.
